Bank Robber Aided by Craigslist

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008 by admin

Check it out - a dude robs an armored truck guard inside a bank, and makes off with a bag full of cash. How does he make his getaway? By deploying a bunch of people recruited (unwillingly) on Craigslist to draw attention away from him.

I think we have a new evil genius in the neighborhood.

Victoria Jackson, formerly of Saturday Night Live and other things, has her own website. It’s self-done (apparently) and a little nutty. Also, she seems to have found Jesus.

Interactive Zombie Movie!

Saturday, September 27th, 2008 by admin

It’s called Survive the Outbreak, and it’s pretty neat!  Like those old Choose Your Path adventure books, you’re given crisis points where you decide how the action will proceed.  (Warning: music is pretty loud when the thing starts up.)

The Integrated Circuit is 50

Monday, September 15th, 2008 by admin

We (meaning *I*) missed the event Saturday, but it was the 50th anniversary of the creation of the first integrated circuit, the most basic sort of computer microchip thingy which is the basis of all modern electronics.

This is probably one of those important milestones that most civilizations go through to get to their next, higher Electronic Age. (I’m trying to look at this from a Doctor Who, Star Trek Timeline of the Galaxy kind of viewpoint.) Whether we make it to the next Age, whatever it is, with our health, our freedoms, and our privacy intact, is anybody’s guess.

Anyhoo, here’s a slideshow about the history of the integrated circuit from Wired:
